If you a news junkie like I am, you have questions. You listen to the daily news regularly. You’re sure tired of hearing over and over the problems facing our society and civilization as a whole.
You listen and hear the news caster talk about the news of the day and you can’t help yourself from thinking to yourself how can I solve this problem.
It is not the answer that enlightens, but the question.
Drug Addiction: A Sick Person Or Criminal
Say for example. Our country, like many others, has a drug addiction problem.
Now we treat drug possession as a criminal offense. Why?
We know drug addiction is a health threat. Yet we treat it with a criminal penalty. For a country concerned with human compassion how do we justify our solution?
Would we punish someone suffering from another health issue? Would we give someone a summons for having a cold? What about heart disease, cancer. diabetes.
