Is There Life Without Hope
Hope, what is hope? Can hope be in fact defined? It’s a thought I had today while walking my dog. You know those days when you’re not inspired. Days when you don’t seem to want to continue with the direction you’re going.
As I pondered that question, I thought what is hope.
Defined by the dictionary:
As a Noun
A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen:
He looked through her belongings in the hope of coming across some information. I had high hopes of making the Olympic team.
• a person or thing that may help or save someone: their only hope is surgery.
• grounds for believing that something good may happen: he does see some hope for the future.
As a Verb
want something to happen or be the case: he’s hoping for an offer of compensation | [with clause]: I hope that the kids are OK.
So that defines the word. But what defines the emotion?
